Jake Peress grew up commuting between two cities that don’t agree on much: the wide, sun-bleached calm of Los Angeles and the elbow-to-elbow static of New York. That back-and-forth became the lens he directs through, telling stories about family, intimacy, and the systems people build to survive each other.
As a writer, director, and producer, and the founder of MorrowWay Pictures, Peress makes work that’s unafraid to sit in discomfort, because the best conversations usually start there. His projects range from narrative shorts and series work to commercial storytelling, all built around the same instinct: provoke first, entertain always.
Based in Los Angeles, he’s currently developing new narrative and commercial work for audiences who’d rather be provoked than placated.
